Is your soul thirsty?

….”My soul thirsts for God, for the living God”…. (Psalm 42.2)
The figure used by the psalmist to show the need he had of God is the thirst. No one can be for a long time without drinking water, it is vital to our body’s health. Thirst is our body saying we need to be hydrated to work properly.

Our spiritual “success” is not measured by the amount of positions we have in church or by the activities in which we are involved, but by the thirst we have for God.

If you don’t thirst for God, for knowing Him intimately, there is something wrong in your spiritual life. Jesus said: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37). It is a constant act, we don’t drink water once a week or once a day, but a lot of times. Jesus basically wants to say that we need to comprehend how vital to our spiritual health is to continually drink from Him, otherwise we will be “dehydrated” spiritually.

Many are going through moments of spiritual dryness, they have no strength, they are discouraged and weak. Continually they ask God to provide a way out, but God already provided help: Jesus is the living water, who promised us spiritual vigor that is abundant life. We don’t need a new solution coming from God, it already came out! What we need is, throughout a daily communion with Jesus Christ, to drink from this wholesome water, in order to breakthrough barriers that interposes between us and our blessings.

Don’t be afraid, have faith

“Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them…He came to them…” (Mark 6:48).

The disciples were in difficulties because of a big storm. The ship was about to sink and Jesus was distant, but He was observing the situation. In the right time, He stopped the tempest.

Is your life like the disciple’s boat that was being tossed with tempests? The fourth watch of the night has passed and you don’t see Jesus approaching, the wind is against you and there is no sign of Him. Calm down! He wasn’t the great I Am, He is the great I Am and is waiting to whisper in your heart: “be of good cheer, it is I, do not fear! Don’t try to stop this storm, it is my work. Let me take the control of your boat. Let me be the Lord in your life. I still have the power to change your circumstances. Trust me”.

There are moments that Jesus tell us to be strong, but there are moments that He just say: “Do not be afraid!” He knows very well what is our need in certain moments and He does not expect from us great faith but a firm faith on Him. Next time that the sea becomes agitated, don’t show great strength, but a firm faith to move the impossible. Reinhard Bonnke wrote: “the opposite of fear is not courage, but faith. “Do not fear, have faith”.

Stand up and fight!

“Village life in Israel ceased, ceased until I, Deborah, arose, arose a mother in Israel” (Judges 5:7).

In this statement of Deborah we learn to battle for the purpose of God to our lives and to our loved one’s lives. Although she lived in a biased society, she decided not to accept that her people were subdued by the enemies of God. Deborah positioned herself before the attack of the enemy instead of inertly endures a distressing situation.

She said: “The life stopped because of the enemy’s attack until I decided to place myself in the strength of God”. Israel was cornered because of the attack, the men were afraid, but a woman decided not to accept such situation. It was like Deborah was saying: “There is something wrong here. God is with us, He will give us the victory. We need to position ourselves to the battle for God is with us. We can’t passively accept this situation”.

Beloved, do not accept passively the assault of the enemy against your home. Position yourself and fight for the well being of your children. God is with you! With Him you are the majority. Don’t let the evil to grow in the body or in the circumstances. Rebuke the evil one and put Satan to run away from your home. Ask the Lord to show you where the attack comes from and put on God’s mighty power to combat. Be victorious! You are not a victim, but an agent of God to undo the work of the Devil.
